The song reached the top spot in both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Canadian Hot 100. Even Rolling Stone named it as one of the top songs from 2015. She released her debut Know It All album in the year that followed. The third track, Scars to Your Beautiful was the first of five tracks which reached the top spot on Billboard as well as the Canadian Albums Chart Billboard 200 and Billboard Hot 100. The track in question was unique since based on her interview with Rap-Up, many people related to her journey through self-doubt and discovering to accept herself. Cara's music is renowned for the messages it conveys of kindness, self-love and mental health. Every song Cara sings comes directly from her struggles with insomnia and mental illness. According to a Reuters interview she describes her album as half-tumultuous and half perfected. She found that therapy has helped her develop and encourages others to do the same. Alessia Cara is a Canadian musician who was born July 11, 1996, to parents from Italian heritage. Her parents gave her an instrument when she was barely 10 years old. This sparked her enthusiasm for music. At the age of 13, she started covering songs she loved on YouTube for the purpose of showing her fans that she had talent and had the courage to pursue an opportunity as a musician. One of her covers, Sweater Weather, was the one that got her attention. EP Entertainment gave her the opportunity to compose and sing her own tunes.
