Amanda Brugel

(February 27th of 2010 to Toronto ON) Pointe Claire is a quiet community located on this part of the island of Montreal known as"the West Island. The West Island can be confusing to those unfamiliar to its significance. It is often believed that it's an island located to the west of Montreal however it is actually a part of the city. West Island encompasses everything between the two cities of Lachine as well as West. Amanda Brugel was born there and her time was not long in the city. Brugel grew to be a young woman in Courtice Ontario just outside Oshawa. When she was a child she hoped to become professional performer, however an unexpected expansion of her body made it impossible. In an article published by Toronto Star, she revealed that she wore heels and was six feet and one inches tall. As soon as I outgrew all my male partners then I stopped. Numerous former dancers choose to become actors. In Brugel's case it was because of the advice by her drama instructor at her high school which pushed her to the path she required. It was her teacher who advised her to audition to play the character of Anne in the school's annual production. She tried out and was eventually cast as the lead for the role in Anne of Green Gables. Following her award of the Fine Arts Talent Scholarship, she attended York University and earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree in 2000. Through the years since, Brugel has been offered roles in more than 60 productions across small and big screens drawing the most media attention after she was offered the character in the role of Rita in the award-winning show The Handmaid's Tale (pictured below). Brugel was the character Rita in The Handmaid's Tale the series filming over 10 years ago.
